Privacy Policy
The short version
Bramble is a subscription app that helps a parent build a small, calm “front door” of approved children’s shows on a television. A parent sets it up on our website and chooses every show that appears. Bramble is meant to be used together, with a parent directly involved — it is a tool for parents, not something to hand a child to use alone.
We collect no information about your child. No name, no age, no profile, no record of what was watched. Bramble has no way to know who is watching, and never tries to find out.
We collect very little about you. Essentially your email address, the show list you build, your subscription status, and the technical records needed to run and bill the service.
We do not sell your data, we do not show ads, and we have added no advertising, analytics or tracking software to Bramble. An automated test on every release enforces this. The one piece of outside software that reports back is Google’s own billing software, which Google Play requires for subscriptions sold on the device. It sends Google technical diagnostics about billing, never anything about your child (Section 3).
Your device is anonymous to us. The device Bramble runs on identifies itself to our servers with a random identifier it generates on its own. That identifier is linked to a household’s show list — never to a person — and the device is never even told which account it belongs to.
The rest of this policy is the detail behind those statements.
Who we are
Bramble is operated by Scovel Investments 719, LLC, a Texas limited liability company doing business as Tenere Technology (“Bramble,” “we,” “us”). You can reach us about privacy at privacy@watchbramble.com or by mail at 1040 Pendragon Castle Drive, Pflugerville, TX 78660.
Our website is watchbramble.com. Bramble is an app that runs on a streaming device — a Chromecast with Google TV, or another Google TV / Android TV device — paired with that website; a parent does all account, billing, and curation on the website, and the device shows the resulting list on your television. In this policy, “the device” means the streaming device Bramble runs on, and “your television” means the screen it is connected to.
Children’s privacy comes first
Bramble is designed for families and treated as directed to children under the U.S. Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (“COPPA”). Our full Children’s Privacy Notice explains our approach in COPPA’s terms. The core commitment: we do not collect personal information from children. The device uses one identifier of ours: an anonymous device identifier that it generates itself and that we use solely to operate the service (to recognize the same device over time, deliver the household’s approved list, and keep the service secure and working) — never to build a profile, contact anyone, advertise, or track a person across services. Separately, Google’s billing software on the device sends Google technical diagnostics, including the device’s IP address; Section 3 describes exactly what, and why. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us at privacy@watchbramble.com and we will delete it.
What we collect, why, and how long we keep it
We collect only what the service needs. The table below is the complete inventory.
Google’s billing software. Google Play requires apps that sell subscriptions on a device to use Google’s own billing software (the Google Play Billing Library), and Bramble does. Whenever the Bramble app starts or returns to the screen, that software connects to Google Play and sends Google technical diagnostics: the app and billing-software versions, the result of each billing request, and details about the device (make, model, operating-system version and build, memory, language and region setting, time zone, and network type), along with the device’s IP address, as with any internet connection. It includes no name, email address, Google account, advertising ID, or persistent device ID (only a random number that changes each time the app starts), and nothing about what is watched. Bramble never receives this information. Google says it uses it “to improve the performance of the Play Billing Library and provide better support for errors,” handles it under the Google Privacy Policy (policies.google.com/privacy), and has not published how long it keeps it.
We do not collect: any child’s name, age, age band, or viewing history; precise location; contacts, photos, microphone, or camera; any advertising identifier (such as an Android Advertising ID), device serial number, MAC address, or phone identifiers; or anything typed on the device. There are two places to type on the device — a search box that filters your already-approved show list, and a PIN pad that guards Settings — and nothing typed in either leaves the device or is sent to us: the search text only narrows what is shown on screen and is discarded when you leave the page, and the PIN stays on that device. This is enforced by an automated test on every release.
| What | Where it comes from | Why we have it | How long we keep it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Your email address | You, on the website | To create and secure your account (you sign in with a one-time code emailed to you, or with Google sign-in — either way there is no password and we store none), to bill you, and to send you service and legal messages (receipts, renewal and price-change notices) | While your account is open. If you subscribe and later cancel: 185 days after your access ends. If you create an account but never subscribe: 24 months after your last sign-in or account activity, and we email you 30 days before deleting it |
| Your approved-shows list | You, on the website | It is the service — the list the device displays | With your account (see above) |
| Anonymous device identifier and device record | The device generates it | To recognize the same device over time, deliver your list, remember a per-device display theme, and know when a device has gone unused long enough to forget. The record holds the anonymous identifier, the platform (e.g., “androidtv”), the chosen theme, a single “last seen” timestamp, and which household account the device belongs to — which is how we know whose list to send it. The identifier is not derived from anything about a person or the hardware, it is never used to identify an individual, and the device is never told which account it belongs to | 540 days after the device was last seen |
| Subscription and billing records | Google Play (device) or Stripe (website) after you subscribe | To grant what you paid for and keep the billing record the law requires | With your account; raw payment-provider messages are kept 90 days |
| Auto-renewal consent records | Recorded when you agree to the subscription terms at checkout | To prove what you agreed to, as automatic-renewal law requires. Includes the exact disclosure shown, its version, a timestamp, your IP address and browser type, and the email as it stood at consent | 4 years after the last event that could give rise to a claim (your last charge or cancellation) — see the Auto-Renewal Terms |
| Records of subscription notices we sent — that a legally required subscription notice (a renewal or price-change email) was sent, and the address it went to | Recorded when we send you a notice automatic-renewal law requires | To prove we gave the notices the law requires | 4 years after the notice was sent |
| Records of other account or billing emails we sent — that an email was sent, and to which address | Recorded when we send you an account or billing email | To confirm delivery and help resolve account and billing questions | 90 days after the email was sent |
| Your show ratings (optional) | You, on the website | If you choose to rate a show, we store two numbers (1–5) against your account and that show. Nothing about your child is stored — only your own rating of the show | With your account |
| Billing diagnostics sent to Google (not to Bramble) | Google’s billing software on the device | Google Play requires this software for subscriptions sold on the device. It reports the outcome of billing requests, with device details and the device’s IP address, to Google, which says it uses them to improve its billing software and support errors. We never receive it | Held by Google under Google’s policies, not by us. Google has not published a retention period |
| Payment method and card details | You, at checkout | We never receive or store your full card number. Payment is handled by Google Play or Stripe | Held by Google Play / Stripe under their policies, not by us |
How we use information
We use the information above only to: operate, maintain, and secure the service; deliver your approved list to your device; create and authenticate your account; process your subscription and prevent fraud; comply with our legal obligations (including keeping the consent and billing records the law requires); and communicate with you about the service. We do not use your information for advertising, and we do not profile you or your child. Google’s use of the billing diagnostics its software sends is governed by Google, not by us (Section 3).
Do Not Track and third-party tracking (California — CalOPPA)
We do not track you over time or across other websites or online services, and we do not allow third parties to do so through Bramble. Bramble contains no advertising or analytics tracking technology of our own. Google’s billing software sends Google diagnostics about billing requests (Section 3); these carry no advertising ID and no persistent device ID, though like any internet connection they reveal the device’s IP address. Because we do not track you across sites, we treat all users the same and we do not change our behavior in response to a browser “Do Not Track” (“DNT”) signal. Show artwork is served only from Bramble’s own servers, so no third party receives your information when images load.
Your choices and rights
Access and update. You can view and change your email, your show list, and your ratings any time by signing in at watchbramble.com.
Delete your account. You can delete your account at any time from your account page. We first cancel any active subscription bought on our website, then delete your account and the data tied to it. A subscription bought on your device belongs to your Google account and only Google can end it — we tell you so before you confirm, and you should cancel it from Google Play → Subscriptions. The only things we keep afterward are the minimal records automatic-renewal law requires us to hold as proof — your auto-renewal consent record (the disclosure text, a timestamp, and the email as it stood at consent) and our record that we sent you the subscription notices the law requires — which we retain, detached from your account, only for as long as the law requires and for no other purpose. See Section 8.
Cancel your subscription. Cancel any time from the website (Stripe customer portal) or, for a subscription bought on the device, from Google Play’s subscription settings. See the Auto-Renewal Terms.
California residents. California’s Online Privacy Protection Act requires the disclosures in Sections 3, 5, and 6 and this notice of your right to review and request changes to your information as described above.
Retention and deletion
We keep personal information only as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described above, and we do not keep it indefinitely. The specific periods are in the table in Section 3 and in our internal data-retention policy, which we follow and update as the service changes. Two points worth repeating: the anonymous device record is deleted 540 days after the device was last seen, and an account created but never subscribed is deleted 24 months after last activity, with 30 days’ advance email notice. After you delete your account, we retain only the minimal records automatic-renewal law requires us to keep as proof — your consent record and our record that the required subscription notices were sent — as described in Section 7, and for no other purpose.
Security
We maintain a written information-security program with administrative, technical, and physical safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the information and the size of our operation, including encryption in transit and at rest, strict database access controls that ensure a device can read only its own record, least-privilege credentials, and the deliberate design choice that the device is never told which account it belongs to. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and to detect and respond to incidents. If a breach affecting your information occurs, we will notify you as required by law.
Where information is processed
Bramble is operated in the United States, and the service is intended for users in the United States. If you use Bramble from outside the United States, your information will be processed in the United States.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will post the updated version here with a new effective date, and — for material changes — we will notify you by email. Your continued use after the effective date means you accept the updated policy.
